Welcome to the "Gotcha edition" of Pacific Northwest News.

Maybe we're feeling a little vulnerable these days, but stories of local crime are getting under our skin. So here's a pair of stories where the crime was barely done before police got their suspect.

But before we get going, a reminder: We scour newspapers, television networks, and online magazines for articles of interest to folks around the Pacific Northwest. Then we collect snippets of articles (below in italics) for you to enjoy. So read up, click over and then come back and share your thoughts with your online community here at OregonLive. We especially appreciate remarks that relate directly to the subjects at hand and that employ good grammar, common sense and solid logic in equal measure.

For the first story, we turn to The Oregonian's own Bryan Denson, who reports that Portland Police were called to an outer Southeast neighborhood Monday after a Craigslist transaction went awry:

Officers were summoned to the 11200 block of Southeast Insley Street at about 4 p.m., when the victim of the robbery reported that he had been robbed of the laptop after placing an advertisement on Craigslist.

The teens answered the ad at the victim's residence, asking him to step into their four-door Subaru so they could have a look at the computer. Once their victim was in the car, the two men pointed handguns at their victim and told him to get out or they would shoot him, reported police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Officers soon nabbed the alleged thieves -- along with the weapons, ammunition and laptop.

Our next crime bit comes from seattlepi.com, which reports about a prolific three-time felon, aged 15, who is facing new charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree unlawful firearm possession. What for? For allegedly joining another teen to rob a young woman in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood.

Ah, but technology was not on the youth's side:

Investigators got break in the case after they say the suspect dropped his cell phone at the scene and someone called the phone asking for him by name.

An officer recognized the name of that suspect, who police say also had his photograph as the cell phone's wallpaper.

Wha-wha-wha-wha. That feels much better.
