Most magazines usually last for a couple of years, then close shop or get put under a new management. Publishing is a tough business, and for InTrend to celebrate its fifth anniversary is a testament to their hard work and creativity.

They celebrated their fifth year in style at One Utama, with lots of activities and performances by celebrities from June 4 to 6. "It's always a challenge to deliver style and fashion news to our readers," said InTrend editor Rosie Haslinda Nasir.

"Especially, since we're a magazine, we have to come up with novel ways of presenting news that keeps it fresh."

InTrend is Measat Publication's first Bahasa Malaysia fashion and beauty magazine. The magazine features articles on fashion, trends, beauty tips, as well as a growing online presence.

Launched in May 2005, InTrend won best pre-publishing design at the 4th Asian Print Awards in Shanghai in 2006. In 2007, InTrend received two Bronze Awards for their September 2006 and October 2006 covers.

Hosted by Zainal Alam Kadir and Yasmin Hani Richardson, the three-day event showcased performances from celebrities such as Anita Sarawak, Nurul Wahab, Atilia, Noryn Aziz, Alyah, Fabulous Cats, Meet Uncle Hussain, Imran Ajmain, Sheila OIAM, Iz Sulaini, Mila, Yazer, Amanda Imani, Sabhi Saddi, Marsha, Lufya, Farhan, Aishah AF and Awan Band.

There was also a fashion show highlighting the designs of Zery Zamry, Hatta Dolmat, Rizman Ruzaini, Amir Luqman, Hazwani Osman, Rico Rinaldi, Anizam Yusof, Ezuwan Ismail, Khairi Sufi, Wanpa, Sandra Azwan and Nik Erwan Roseli.

Make-up brand Sa Sa did a demonstration for 'smokey eyes effect', 'ice princess look' as well as, in conjunction with InTrend, a mini model search called "Pencarian Dia Yang Rupawan".

"We are looking at continuing our good relations with readers as well as sponsors," said Rosie. "The next step might be to focus more online."

Rosie can't say much about InTrend's online plans, but revealed that even today, Facebook and Twitter has added value for readers and advertisers to participate and disseminate information, respectively.
